The Bonisa Nursery is run by an amazing woman called Brenda.

The nursery is situated in the most deprived and dangerous place within the Khayelitsha township in Cape Town, South Africa. It has two classrooms a short distance apart. The smaller classroom is built onto Brenda’s own home which is barely more than a shack. Recently, the Western Cape Education authority has refused to fund the ongoing running costs of the smaller nursery caring for 30 children because it deemed the building to be unsafe and are not willing to pay for a new one. We are trying to erect one larger building that will house both classrooms on the site of the main nursery which will look after all 90 children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years in the same place.

Mellon Educate have the necessary construction operations on the ground after building 35,000 houses and enough classrooms for over 50,000 children in townships over the last 20 years. We are hoping to utilise second hand 40ft shipping containers that will be bolted together on site. They will be insulated and fully kitted out off site ready to use and lifted into place so they can be installed in 2 days after the concrete slab is laid. Every penny will go directly to this cause, I will personally see that it gets delivered to the satisfaction of everyone.
