Story
National Autistic Society are the UK's leading charity for people on the autism spectrum and their families. Since 1962, they have been providing support, guidance and advice, as well as campaigning for improved rights, services and opportunities to help create a society that works for autistic people.
In May 2023, Frankie was diagnosed with autism, following this Leanne and I have been on the EarlyBird course through the National Autistic Society which was invaluable to us to understand autism, and navigate the everyday challenges it can bring.
So in an effort to give back I have decided to put myself through the agony of running a half marathon. Stupidly at the time of writing this, given the 8 week timescale until the race, I haven't trained partly due to putting it off till after Christmas to focus on eating and drinking, then being struck down with a chest infection, all which has left me unable to do anything, besides cough, which I've got pretty good at.
On top of this all, my knees aren't keen on my new desire to run, which is understable given they are carrying the brunt of the impact from a rather round runner.
In conclusion - you can give money to a wonderful cause in the knowledge by doing so, I'll have no option I'll have to go and suffer the consequences.
Thank you if you're able to donate.
