The what? Let me explain.

I've been running pop music polls on Twitter for 3 years now, since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. People nominate tracks, I collate them and set up brackets, and we all have lots of fun voting and chatting about music.

One of the first polls we did was a charity poll, where people who donated could nominate ANY SONG THEY LIKE to go in.

To celebrate the third birthday of the polls, my own 50th birthday, and the move to a new site, we're doing it again.

I've set up two fundraisers - this one and one for internatonal aid organisation ActionAid. You can donate to either or both. Each one you donate to lets you pick TWO songs.

(Well, almost all. In the vast universe of pop there are 40 or so songs that have already won polls of ours so we'll leave them out. You can see that list and other guidelines here.)

Why The Ruth Hayman Trust?

I wanted to raise funds for a UK charity which directly helped refugees and immigrants. We are living in a time where a failing government is looking to blame refugees and immigrants for the results of its own catastrophic policies. I strongly believe in the contribution refugees make to the countries they are forced to flee to, and by funding educational grants and grant applications for refugees, the Ruth Hayman Trust is making a fantastic investment not only in their future, but in Britain's.
