Story
Hey All,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page! My reason for running the London Marathon 2024 is very personal for me.
I am running in support of The National Autistic Society. Autism is not an incurable illness where someone has terminal health issues. However for so many people autism is a life changing disability, often with little or no support available for both those people with autism or the people in their lives supporting them.
Like so many parents my wife and I have really struggled with learning to adapt to life with an autistic child. Max is three and a half, non-verbal and with extremely limited understanding. Things we learnt to expect as basic for our two other children have now become long term goals for our youngest. My wife, children and I have had to re-learn and change so much, constantly doubting ourselves along the way. We are so lucky to have such wonderful support from grandparents, family and friends. But there are so many people out there who are not as lucky to have such an incredible support network. I'm running for all of those people, as whatever amount is raised will hopefully improve their lives and importantly provide more opportunities for their loved ones.
I cannot believe I signed up for this challenge, but now I am relishing crossing that finish line. If you are kind enough to sponsor me then I simply want to say thank you. You really do not know how wonderful it is that you are helping people with autism, who often you may not know are suffering from this disability.
Toby
UPDATE : Thanks to the generosity of people who have donated I have now changed the target amount.
