Story
We are fundraising for The BASE @ Tobin.
Bringing Additional Support to Everyone – The BASE @ Tobin runs from Tobin Centre, Moortown. It is a five-year programme funded by The National Lottery Community Fund NI. It is designed to meet the requirements of young people up to 18 years with additional support needs. The programme was launched in January 2020 and has a total of 160 registered families from across Mid-Ulster.
There is a total of 205 young people with a wide range of additional support needs, 172 siblings and their parents who avail of The BASE @ Tobin - Family Fun Sessions, Youth Club, Summer Schemes, Parent Support Group, Training
We have wonderful facilities at Tobin Centre but we are missing one thing. A sensory room.
Tobin Centre has recently applied for funding for a purpose-built sensory room. However, the funding available will not cover the complete cost of this work.
To raise the shortfall in funding, 25 people will be spending a night locked in Crumlin Road Jail on Friday 21st April 2023. Each prisoner needs to raise £2000 bail.
When built, the sensory room will be open during all our BASE activities and will also be available for BASE families and the wider community to hire.
A sensory room would compliment and enhance our current services and would be of great benefit to our registered children, their families, our staff and volunteers and the wider community. Here is a short video to highlight some of what we do at The BASE.
