Story
For the past few months, I've been training for The Speed Project, an iconic yet grueling ultra-relay from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. And right now my mind is set on more than just the physical challenge ahead.
My involvement in The Speed Project represents more than just another challenge to tick off the list (I've done a few silly races throughout the past few years) - it's a personal commitment to a global cause – combating the escalating threat of mosquito-borne diseases like dengue.
Each mile I run (collectively we'll run over 300 miles) symbolises the urgency of our collective response to tackling head on the world's fastest growing mosquito-borne disease: dengue. And the World Mosquito Program's groundbreaking Wolbachia method is a veritable beacon of hope in this fight. Myself and my fellow Mosquito Milers aim to spread the message about their vital work.
Although many of us don't live in countries where the threat of mosquito-borne diseases is a thing. Over half the world's population does. And thanks to global warming, the figure is increasing.
So please join me in supporting this cause. You're not just backing me as a runner in an attempt to 'outrun dengue'; you're also helping in a crucial battle against a growing global health threat. Your support means the world to me and to those who stand to benefit from our collective effort. In advance, thank you!
