Story
My story in brief: “please donate to guilt-trip me into doing something worthwhile that my body is convinced will kill me.”
Read on…
After many, many years of being terrified of open water, I’ve been trying to conquer the fear in recent months. It seemed like a really good idea back in the spring to enter the Exmoor Open Water Swim Challenge at Wimbleball Lake and push myself that bit further. With a charity place, this would spur me on even more… Excellent, sounds like a plan.
So, it’s 4 weeks to go, and even as I type this, I’m feeling incredibly nervous and unsettled, just thinking about it. Yes, I’ve considered trying to wriggle out of the event or ignore it like it never happened (who would know?) but that’s not the right thing to do. So I’m doing it. Yes. I am.
Would appreciate if you could consider donating any amount, however small. I spend a fair amount of time up on the beautiful coast in North Devon, and the charity (Plastic Free North Devon) is trying to do some great work that will benefit us all in the long run. What I’m saying is, “please guilt-trip me into doing something my body is convinced will kill me” (my brain will tell it otherwise, I hope).
Yes, I know I was in Royal Navy and lived life on the open wave, but why get INTO the water when you have a perfectly good ship to live in?!
Thanks for reading anyway.
