Story
Enjoy a lively evening of folk dancing with live music, curry, and chai! We'll enjoy music by a sangha band of Kavyamani, Maitrishura, Vidyaruchi, Fred, Ian, and Pete.
You don't need to know how to dance to join in. Instruction and guidance will be provided by professional Ceilidh caller, Chris. This is a dry event, so a rare chance to enjoy a sober Ceilidh. Children are welcome to come along, as well as beings of all ages, experience, fitness, and enthusiasm. Everyone can join in!
If you're not sure what a Ceilidh (pronounced kay-lee) is, it is a series of group dances where we will learn some simple moves together for each song, and give it a go in a fun, relaxed, and playful way. Take a look at the video below for a glimpse of a Ceilidh among friends last summer, led by some of the same musicians and caller (see if you can spot any sangha friends or Order Members!).
The Ceilidh will take place in the beautiful hall near the Methodist Church on Approach Road, a 5 minute walk from the Buddhist Centre. There will be a seating area for resting and watching the dances, and a garden area to have drinks and chat.
Get your ticket now, and invite your friends! There will be vegan curry and chai on donation basis. We look forward to seeing you there.
