Story
I have never run a marathon before, in fact I haven’t attempted any form of organised running since I was at school…and so for reasons best known to myself I have decided to run not one but two marathons…with an extra half thrown in for practice.
I will be running the Amsterdam marathon on October 20th 2024, with Sam ( run somewhere flat and with a doctor) and going solo for the London Marathon in April, both in aid of CRY (cardiac risk in the young) https://www.c-r-y.org.uk see below for more details.
We lost a wonderful member of our Design Bridge team, Jemima Wilson, to a sudden cardiac arrest in 2016. A fit, bright, energetic person with an amazing future ahead of them.
This is where I hope you will all come in and help me raise the target of £2k. (one less coffee, one less pint…can make a big difference.)
Sending our most grateful thanks in advance from myself and Jemima's family. I will get around to thanking you all...
As for the picture above, that is one of me that actually looks like I can run. In case you are wondering, all the entrance fees, travel costs and accommodation will be covered by me, so all your donations will go directly to CRY
Every week in the UK at least 12 young people die of undiagnosed heart conditions. Since its formation in 1995, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) has been working to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). CRY supports young people diagnosed with potentially life-threatening cardiac conditions and offers bereavement support to families affected by YSCD. CRY promotes and develops heart screening programmes and funds medical research. CRY publishes and distributes medical information written by leading cardiologists for the general public. CRY funds specialist referral, screening and cardiac pathology services at leading UK hospitals.
