Story
On September 23rd, a small group of friends and family will take part in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for Pendleside Hospice, in memory of Karen O'Callaghan and Terry Riley.
Taking part in the challenge we have - John O’Callaghan, Melanie Ashcroft, Adam Council, John Ashcroft and David Riley.
Our challenge will take us on a 24-miles round trip route, and includes 5200ft of ascent, up the peaks of Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, all under 12 hours. A challenge not to be taken lightly!
We ask you to join us in remembering two special people who were taken from this world all too soon.
Terry, cherished father to Stuart, David and Kristy, and grandad to Jaiden, Harvey and Mia, passed suddenly from heart disease in February 2022.
Karen, beloved wife, and adored mother of four children and four grandchildren, sadly passed away on New Year's Eve in 2019, after her long battle with pancreatic cancer.
The Pendleside Hospice team played a significant role during Karen's end of life care, and this was a big motivation for why we chose to fundraise for this fantastic local charity. We want to show our gratitude for the dedicated work and support that they provided for Karen and her family, and to those whom they continue to provide care for.
In their own words, 'Pendleside Hospice exists to promote and enhance quality of life for people with life-limiting illnessses, their familes and carers; by delivering specialist and holistic palliative care, which addresses their individually assessed physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs.'
If you are able to make a donation, however big or small, we will be extremely grateful! And be assured that all donations made on this page go straight to the charity.
