Story
At 5 weeks old my cousin was admitted to Birmingham Children’s Hospital, unsettled, clingy and glowing yellow. Little did we know, the weeks that followed would feel like the end of what should just be the beginning.
After an operation, biopsy and a very anxious 6 weeks wait Willow was diagnosed with non-syndromic bile duct paucity.
During her stay, the all nighters from my auntie and Lauren , the weekend leave, the consultations, procedures and follow up appointments BCH have been beyond supportive. In fact we can’t describe how each person, Doctor, Nurse, Volunteer, Chaplin, Coffee shop worker/ Cleaner, Porter and more have presented. Each encounter is loaded with smiles, support, tissues if needed….reassurance, guidance and empathy.
We didn’t know much about BCH until we were faced with those testing times, but we continue to advocate it’s brilliance and will be their biggest supporters for years to come.
And with that comes the chance to help others, some far less fortunate than we were in 2022. By giving even just £1.00 YOU can make a difference. I will be running the 10K on Sunday 24th March in the hope of raising much needed funds to give a little back.
