Story
Hey all! I haven't been on a bike since pandemic time when I had a second hand bike and went for a ride around empty London for a bit of exercise. I've signed up to do this +200km challenge to raise money wonderful organisation (Big Leaf) who help displaced young people to find their way. It is also a personal (and scary) challenge for me as I could never imagine preparing and actually doing an event such as this! Thank you in advance for your consideration and support, it means the world to me and more importantly to the great folks at Big Leaf.
Big Leaf Foundation is an award-winning charity working with displaced young people aged 15-25 living in Surrey. Their vision is of a community where displaced young people are valued, supported and given the ability to create better outcomes for themselves. Our aim is to provide a nurturing programme of activities, projects and events that focus on combating social isolation and improving the wellbeing of the young people we support.
One of the most significant barriers to anyone trying to resettle in the UK is a good understanding of the English language. Displaced young people often arrive as beginners in English speaking and reading, making finding their feet in new environments extremely challenging. Big Leaf Foundation run weekly full day English sessions, bringing young people together with teachers to work on building language skills. Your donation means that Big Leaf can continue offering this vital service.
