Story
Project GO is a family fund which supports the incredible work of Duchenne UK set up by Nick and Kirsty on receiving the news that their wonderful sons Owen and George both have Duchenne. DUK take an innovative and sharply focused approach to fighting Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy from every angle. This involves four key areas of work: funding ground-breaking medical research; accelerating access to treatments; improving lives through technology; and ensuring everyone in the DMD community is given the care and support they need.
Over the past 10 years, the Duchenne Dash has grown into Duchenne UK's biggest and most challenging fundraising event, raising more than £5.5 million for DMD research. After talking about it for too long, finally Nick could resist no more, and he has persuaded his old friends, Tom and Henry, to join him in riding the 300km from London to Paris in under 24 hours. They are humbled by the support given by every friend, relative, colleague, and many more beyond. Thank you all so much.
Whilst the 300kms in 24hours will be a significant personal challenge (given my ineptitude at cycling) this will not compare at all with the daily challenges faced by Nick, Kirsty, Owen and George. Their family and all others impacted by DMD deserve all the support they get, as this condition is so unforgiving and unfair. The cure is in sight but needs funding not just for research into achieving the ultimate aim of a cure, but also to improve the treatments and quality of life of patients as far as possible in the shorter term. Any donation will mean the world to me and help in those inevitable, dark moments along the 300km of pedalling between London and Paris.
Thank you!
