Story
Originally from the South of England, Tom has been working and involved in the camp world since the summer of 2006. Nearly 20 years later, along with his wife, Brigid, who he met at camp, and their two young children, Philippa/Pippa, 7, and Francis/Frankie, 4, he has made New York and Southampton Camp & Club, the camp he has been director of for the past 12 summers his home.
Passionate about the impact of camp, Tom has been heavily involved volunteering for the NY/NJ American Camp Association over the last 10 years, most recently as Program Chair for the NY/NJ ACA Tri-State Camp Conference, the world’s largest camp conference, a position he will hold for the next 3 years.
As an advocate for believing all children should have the opportunity to attend and experience summer camp, running the NYC Marathon, raising money and supporting SCOPE, a charity that promotes positive, life changing experiences though sending children from under-resourced communities to summer camp, was an opportunity that Tom couldn’t be more excited and enthusiastic about.
Despite never having run a marathon before, Tom is motivated to take on this ultimate challenge and support such a worthy cause on the day of his birth, November 3.
Thank you in advance for your donations, support and signs (the more signs the better!), and Tom looks forward to celebrating and sharing a birthday drink (or hydrating H2O) and a slice of birthday cake at the finishing line.
