Story
You might be wondering why Hadrian's Wall? Why the Roman armour? Well, as my 30th approaches, I want to combine my love for History & Ancient Rome and walk Hadrian's Wall, all the while wearing a historically accurate Roman legionary uniform, minus the sword and shield! All in hopes of raising money for a charity that is particularly close to my heart. I will be walking from Segedunum Roman Fort, in Newcastle to Bowness-on-Solway over 10 days, spanning the width of Northern England for 84 miles and covering the 73 mile length of Hadrian's Wall. However, I will not be alone! I am thankful to have my good friend Adri to join me on the walk to record every moment.
So, why have I chosen MIND? Mental health is something that is fundamentally important and despite a changing in attitudes, there is still stigma surrounding it. Mental health does not discriminate age, gender, religion or race. It can affect anyone at any time. Last year alone over 21 million people accessed MIND's information and they work closely with a range of institutions such as schools to help and support children.
From my own personal experiences and in my professional experience as a teacher, I think it important to raise and show the importance of mental health to young people.
