We empower the world's poorest communities to break them out of the cyle of poverty.

Story

Help me raise £5000 for Islamic Help, a UK-registered charity delivering sustainable solutions that empower people in need. Their work is underpinned by their core values which mirror my own – honesty, transparency, integrity and accountability.

At school I had a passion for humanitarian work, creating justice and spreading peace in the world so I took part and chaired Model United Nations meetings and finally chose to study International Relations at university. Rather than just getting lost in the history or theory of everything, I felt it was more important to actually make a difference to people in our own lives and across the planet, which is probably why I was eventually put on the path of becoming a spiritual healer.

After years of overcoming my own personal difficulty, healing and learning how to empower myself, I am now strong in my position to be able to give back not only to those in the UK through my usual spiritual work, but further afield around the world. I had travelled to Tanzania in 2006 and remember an overwhelming feeling of "home" when I landed, I am excited to revisit this feeling and bring all that I have learnt in the past 18years to help others through this charitable 10 day trip in October.

Mission Possible is Islamic Helps flagship volunteering programme and the humanitarian experience of a lifetime.

As well as directly delivering aid, I will encounter the daily heart-breaking realities that face aid workers, including interviewing potential beneficiaries and deciding – based on needs criteria – certain aid allocations.

Since launch, we've empowered over 10 million people worldwide and you can help us increase that number further.

My personal ethos for healing has always been about doing the long term work to find and heal the root of the issue to create long term, sustainable positive change and not just sticking a band aid on the wound. This is the basis of the project, not just handing out short term aid but empowering, educating and equipping people to be able to sustain themselves for the long term.

What does your donation go towards and what will I be doing? Well, there are various projects to create sustainable positive change:

Environmental Sustainability - Trees for Change is part of our long term environmental strategy which started by planting tens of thousands of trees and saplings, and creating a plant nursery, in Tanzania. These are providing fruit and vegetable harvests for vulnerable families who now also have another means of livelihood, and establishing a life-changing legacy of sustainability.

Sustainable Livelihoods - Donating for livelihoods is more of an investment than a donation. Livelihoods mean families have sustainable incomes which improve their lives in the long term. This, in turn, gives children the chance of a better education, thereby improving their prospects of employment; increasing the economic activity of communities and creating more jobs. Economic empowerment also brings the added benefits of community resilience and reduced reliance on external aid.

Water Aid - Our water hand pumps are usually installed for the benefit of a poor or vulnerable family. Water wells, however, serve a community and provide an essential source of clean and safe water for dozens of households. Delivered on behalf of our donors as part of our WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) programmes, one water well can improve health, reduce disease and – depending on their size and location – benefit anything from a dozen to over 100 families.

Food Security - Food pack includes a range of essential staple items (contents may differ slightly from country to country) and is designed to meet a family’s nutritional needs for up to a month. Our teams across the world carry out distributions to the most vulnerable who struggle on a daily basis for food security. They include the impoverished, the elderly and disabled, orphan families, those displaced by conflict and refugees driven from their homes.

This is why I'm supporting this cause and by travelling to Tanzania will be able to show you first hand the difference your money will make to the lives of so many people in Tanzania.

All souls on this planet deserve to live a happy life of safety, health and security in all ways and you can support others create that by donating today and sharing this page with anyone else, especially those already blessed with financial abundance.

Please give what you can, and then a bit more! Thank you!
