Theodora's Mission Possible in Tanzania

Mission Possible Deployment in Tanzania · 24 October 2025
Help me raise £5000 for Islamic Help, a UK-registered charity delivering sustainable solutions that empower people in need. Their work is underpinned by their core values which mirror my own – honesty, transparency, integrity and accountability.
I am fundraising for this incredible cause via two events - Firstly a charity auction on Saturday 19th July, 7:15pm at St John the Baptist Church, Wateringbury.
Then, on Saturday 16th August I will be walking a half marathon carrying 10 litres of water to emulate the walk many people have to take daily to gather fresh water.
Mission Possible is Islamic Helps flagship volunteering programme and the humanitarian experience of a lifetime.
As well as directly delivering aid, I will encounter the daily heart-breaking realities that face aid workers, including interviewing potential beneficiaries and deciding – based on needs criteria – certain aid allocations.
Since launch, they've empowered over 10 million people worldwide and you can help us increase that number further.
My personal ethos for healing has always been about doing the long term work to find and heal the root of the issue to create long term, sustainable positive change and not just sticking a band aid on the wound. This is the basis of the project, not just handing out short term aid but empowering, educating and equipping people to be able to sustain themselves for the long term.
What does your donation go towards and what will I be doing? Well, there are various projects to create sustainable positive change:
Environmental Sustainability - Trees for Change is part of a long term environmental strategy which started by planting tens of thousands of trees and saplings, and creating a plant nursery, in Tanzania. These are providing fruit and vegetable harvests for vulnerable families who now also have another means of livelihood, and establishing a life-changing legacy of sustainability.
Sustainable Livelihoods - Donating for livelihoods is more of an investment than a donation. Livelihoods mean families have sustainable incomes which improve their lives in the long term. This, in turn, gives children the chance of a better education, thereby improving their prospects of employment; increasing the economic activity of communities and creating more jobs. Economic empowerment also brings the added benefits of community resilience and reduced reliance on external aid.
Water Aid - Our water hand pumps are usually installed for the benefit of a poor or vulnerable family. Water wells, however, serve a community and provide an essential source of clean and safe water for dozens of households. Delivered on behalf of our donors as part of the WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) programmes, one water well can improve health, reduce disease and – depending on their size and location – benefit anything from a dozen to over 100 families.
Food Security - Food pack includes a range of essential staple items and is designed to meet a family’s nutritional needs for up to a month. We will carry out distributions to the most vulnerable who struggle on a daily basis for food security. They include the impoverished, the elderly and disabled, orphan families and those displaced by conflict.
I'm supporting this cause as it speaks to a part of my soul to help those in need. By travelling to Tanzania I will be able to show you first hand the difference your money will make to the lives of so many people in Tanzania. You will see where your money and support has gone. Through my presence there you will connect to the people who's lives you have changed. You will know you've made a real tangible difference in someone's life for years to come.
All humans deserve to have their needs met, and deserve to live a happy life of safety, health and security.
You can support us to create that by donating today.
Please give what you can, and then a bit more! Thank you!
