Tribourne: Brighton & Hove Triathlon 2024 · 1 September 2024 ·

We match people in prisons with trained volunteers who offer long-term support through a combination of correspondence and visits. This provides people in prison with a bridge to the outside world, along with an increased sense of value and potential for their future.

Story

The Cause:

New Bridge is a charity that has been offering a bridge to the outside world for people serving prison sentences for nearly 70 years. It offers nonjudgmental social contact to those who are often isolated and vulnerable. This connection is also vital in reducing isolation and reoffending, increasing well-being, and even helping individuals resettle into the community post-release.

The Events:

On the 1st of September Theo, George and Fred take on The Brighton Triathlon as a relay team, with Theo swimming 1.5km, George cycling 40km, and Fred running 10km.

2-weeks later, Theo is taking on the 2-mile 'Swim Serpentine' in Hyde Park, London.

New Bridge believe that people are worth more than the worst thing they have ever done; that prison can be a deeply challenging place and that as we hope to move towards a future where there is less harm, we must do so from a place of proactive compassion and support. New Bridge offers this proactive compassion, and through volunteer befriending people in prison are supported well as they serve their sentences. Please donate what you can to this fantastic charity x
