Story
Just over 12 months ago, I found myself struggling to walk half a mile due to intense back pain. It was a difficult and challenging time for me, but I refused to let it beat me. After undergoing several treatments and regaining my strength, I realised that I wanted to do something meaningful with my newfound ability.
That's when my friends came up with an incredible challenge - walking along Hadrian's Wall, from Wallsend to Bowness on Solway. A distance of 84 miles in under 48 hours, with no overnight sleeps or rest stops!
It sounded daunting, but I knew it was the perfect opportunity to push myself and make a difference to someone in need.
As an Ambassador for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS), this journey holds a special significance for me. It is a privilege to be able to raise funds that will directly support the GNAAS team in delivering life-saving, world-class critical care to those who need it, anytime and anywhere, via Helicopter or rapid response Critical Care Cars (Powered by Max)
I will be wearing a GPS Live Tracker for the duration of the walk and my progress can be followed via our Facebook Page - Max Out in The Lake District
Every penny donated towards this cause will have a profound impact on someone's life. GNAAS cares for hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year throughout the North East, Cumbria and The Isle of Man. Their doctor-led critical care teams are always ready to respond, providing life-saving treatments at the scene of the incident - whether it's on a remote fell top, a busy roadside, or even in the heart of a bustling city center.
Last year alone, the charity responded to an astonishing 1,640 call-outs via their helicopter and emergency response vehicles. In those critical moments, they performed treatments and procedures that can mean the difference between life and death.
I am participating in the Long Walk Home 48 event - an incredible journey across Hadrian's Wall. On March 28th, 2024, I will embark on this personal walk with determination and purpose. But I can't do it alone.
I humbly ask for your support in donating to our fundraising goal of £10,000. Together, we can make a real difference to help saving lives and providing vital care to who and when it matters most.
