Story
On the 30th August I am going to swim the race across the Hellespont and then cycle from Turkey to London, recording folksongs along the way.
The cycle will be approximately 3000 miles and the swim 4.5km.
I will pass through;
UK, France, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria and Turkey.
Why?
I was helped through the Pandemic by Help Musicians and I want to raise money for them both to ensure the next generation of musicians and to show my personal thanks.
The period since 2020, with the pandemic and subsequent arts cuts, has not been kind to many musicians across all genres in the UK. Help Musicians provides support that is vital to keeping the rich culture of the UK alive:
“Help Musicians is a charity that loves music and for over 100 years has been working hard to make a meaningful difference to the lives of musicians across the UK. We want to create a world where musicians thrive.
Love Music: Help Musicians”
I hope to raise as much as possible to ensure support for as many people as possible, and I offer the highest donation a private concert from myself and as many superstar colleagues as I can bring on board.
I am incredibly grateful to Swimtrek for facilitating the swim and to everyone who has and will support this adventure.
THANK YOU
