Story
In 2011 a special young lady was born with a congenital heart defect, which brought her under the care of the Children's Heart Unit at the Freeman Hospital, Newcastle, and in 2015 resulted in her receiving the ultimate gift from an unknown donor, a new (to her) heart. The Unit, staff and the charity supported both this young lady and her family through some very difficult times and continue to support them during every visit and follow up and now its time to give back.
With my amazing team/family at the Day Treatment Centre, Freeman Hospital, we will be taking on CHUFs Hadrian for Hearts challenge of a 14 mile trek along Hadrian's wall from Birdoswald Roman Fort to Housesteads Roman Fort on Saturday 21st September 2024.
As an avid supporter of CHUF, I often find myself dressed as their mascot for various events, from Christmas Parties to the Great North Run (not running!). With this in mind, for this event, I crazily volunteered to be Mr Chufty for the trek, so Mr Chufty will be completing his own event! However, I know that I cannot achieve this alone and my work family have kindly volunteered to support me along all 14 miles of the wall.
Please be kind and support our endeavours, all donations to this fantastic cause are welcome.
Simon.
