Story
As the father of twin boys who are both disabled, I would do anything in this world to give them pain free independence and hopefully the chance to be able to walk on their own one day.
This is why I am going to be doing a sky dive, something I have always said I could never do. Having severe vertigo this is a nerve-wracking decision I have made, as I cannot stand on the edge of anything where there is a drop below me (I freeze and panic).
So I am pushing myself to jump from 10,000 feet out of a plane to help my boys, to face my own fears and raise money for their independence and chance to relieve the pain they endure every day. Ronnie and Rory have fought every day since they were born, so facing my own fear is the least I can do for them.
The jump will raise money for Ronnie & Rory who both have cerebral palsy to have a life changing operation called SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy). This would greatly reduce this muscle tightness and take away their pain. After a few of years of rehabilitation Ronnie and Rory should hopefully be able to move their bodies independently and pain free, to live life using mobility aids to explore the world for themselves.
Having heard amazing success stories about SDR it’s something I really want them to have. I am hoping one day after their operation they will be able to do the things with me every father wants to do with their child, from cleaning my car, helping with D.I.Y and enjoying the hobbies I do.
I feel the boys have missed out on so many things in life already and this operation will hopefully help them stop missing out on more things in the future. It will help us to be able to do more things as a family and create amazing memories for us all and most of all I won’t have to see them suffer.
Luckily I have my best friend Andy joining me. We are trying to raise a large chuck of the £60,000 needed to cover the cost of the operations and the rehabilitation/Physio therapy which is needed afterwards.
Thank you very much for your time in reading this and help with our fundraising journey. It truly means the world to me and my family.
