Story
A crew of 13 from all sections of Tees Rowing Club including the amazing former GB Rower Jo Wratten, are taking part in The Big Row 2024. We need your help and encouragement - please sponsor us even if you can only afford £1 - it all counts! Some of us are still competing regularly and some of us are using it as part of our rehab. We are all challenging ourselves and contributing towards the epic challenge that is bringing the whole rowing community together in the UK to row from Paris to LA, 15.241km in total.
Our rowing club is based in one of the poorest wards of any across the country and we see everyday how important giving people a chance to participate in sport is. We see every year the massive impact rowing has had on those participating in it, and Tees Rowing Club has benefited from a grant from Love Rowing to help us give more opportunities to local kids.
So for us it is really important to raise funds for Love Rowing, to enable more people to access the transformative power that rowing can have. Why do we care because of comments such as this received only a couple of days ago
“Thanks to rowing I am a very different person to whom I was this time 3 years ago. I hold my head a lot higher. I shout a lot louder and I am 10x tougher”
So please get behind this great cause and the Tees Rowing Club Crew - we have committed to rowing 288 kms made up of the following pledges:
- 1 x former international - 25 km indoors
- 1 x BR Board member and Junior coach (post-covid) - 5 km indoors
- 1 x recreational rower (age a secret) - 2Km indoors
- 1 x Masters Woman - 18 Km on the water and 6 km indoors
- 1 x Masters rower - 40 Km on the water
- 1 x Masters rower and Junior coach - 25 Km on water & 5 Km indoors
