Story

In July 2023 we lost our much loved Dad/Grandad/Father in Law, Peter following an accident at home. He was attended to by the Great North Air Ambulance. The team, along with paramedics were absolutely fantastic. Nicky, Simon, Izzy, Joe and Ruby are all running the GNR this year in memory of him, and with thanks to the team. Newcastle was his adopted home and he would have loved that we are taking part in this iconic event.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service rescues hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year throughout the North East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. Their doctor-led critical care teams deliver life-saving treatments at the scene of the incident, whether on a fell top, a roadside or in a city centre.

The charity responded to more than 1,600 call-outs last year via their helicopter and rapid response vehicles, performing treatments and procedures which can mean the difference between life or death.
