Our Story
Year 9 students from The Regis School will be walking ‘pier to pier’, from Worthing to Bognor Pier in May, raising money and awareness of three charitable organisations.
Students have been learning about the global impact of UNICEF UK, and the work they do to uphold children’s right to clean water, education, and protection from harm. They have learnt how UNICEF responds to natural disasters, like the Turkey/Syria earthquake and supports children in warzones, like Ukraine. Closer to home, they have discovered the incredible support The Sussex Snowdrop Trust gives to children and their families, who have a life threatening, or terminal illness. Finally, Year 9 are keen to give back to their school and encourage others to take part in service for others, so wish to support First Give, an educational charity, that will come into TRS to work with a whole year group to help them research and support a charity or campaign. Each group then presents their idea to a judging panel, who will award the winning team a £1000 cheque for the charity they are working with. This programme costs £750 to deliver and Y9 would like to fundraise so they can ‘gift’ this to next years Y8.
The students have been working on their own fitness and resilience, so they can successfully complete the 25km walk as a team. With your donations, we can support children globally, locally and in our own school community.
Thank you so much.
