Win a life-sized Plague Doctor statue, the perfect prop for your Halloween Party

This Halloween, we are giving away a life-sized statue of the iconic Plague Doctor, in aid of Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity.

Characterised by his long black cloak and elongated, beak-like mask, the Plague Doctor is sure to give even the bravest of its admirers a fright this spooky season.

His striking outfit was designed to protect him from so-called miasmas, the name used to describe foul smells which, at the time, people believed caused the plague.

In reality, his costume kept him safe from airborne diseases and biting fleas carrying bubonic plague. The Plague Doctor did all he could to cure sufferers. Nonetheless, he wasn't a figure you necessarily wanted to pay you a visit...
