Story
To follow on from the Landmarks challenge in January, Sam & Charlotte will be running the London Landmarks half marathon on Sunday April 7th with a Team of runners from the PSP Association, raising much needed funds and promoting awareness of the condition.
Any further donations would be greatly received and appreciated!
On November 3rd 2022, our Dad passed away after battling Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) for the last few years of his life.
PSP is a very rare brain disorder that results from the deterioration of cells in areas of your brain that control movement, coordination, cognitive ability and other important functions. There is currently no cure for PSP so treatment focuses on managing the symptoms.
As a family, we are committed to raising awareness of PSP and doing what we can to help those suffering from the disease, as well as helping to fund research into treatment and hopefully one day, a cure.
Dad would have turned 73 on January 15th 2024, so we will be doing a fundraising event on Saturday 13th January to raise as much as possible for a great cause.
From the comfort of Motion Training in Surbiton, we will be 'travelling' to landmarks that were important to us as a family. We will:
Row from Whiftgift School to Twickenham Stadium - 23 kilometres (~1.5 - 2 hours)
Ski from Brentford FC to Chelsea FC - 10.3 kilometres. (~1 hour)
Cycle from Bath Cricket Club to Lords Cricket Ground - 168 kilometres (half each, ~ 4 - 5 hours).
Any support through donations would be greatly received and we would also love your support on the day if you can make it - you may even want to join us on one of the legs!
After the event we will be heading to a pub nearby to toast the old man and do what he used to do best - drink pints!

PSPA is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of people living with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD). It provides information and support for people affected by PSP & CBD whilst funding research into the causes, treatment, and eventually a cure. Together we can stop PSP & CBD in their tracks.
