Story
Following the success of last year's Queen's Jubilee Gambit event, we're celebrating the Coronation of Charles and Camilla with another community chess event on our driveway at 49 Kelsey Lane, Beckenham, BR3 3NF. The event will take place on Sunday 7th May at 11am-6pm.
Everyone's welcome! If you don't know how to play chess, come along and we'll teach you. If you can already play, you may choose to compete to be top of our leaderboard (3 points for a win, 2 for a draw, 1 for a loss!).
Don't want to play chess? No problem, come and play another game like draughts or jenga. Or just take a seat and enjoy some tea and cake and maybe buy a plant.
We'll be raising funds to support the people of Ukraine.
Any donations of cake or plants to sell on the day will also be very much appreciated.
About the DEC Ukraine appeal:
Intense conflict in Ukraine is threatening the lives and livelihoods of civilians across the country, causing millions to flee. Homes have been destroyed. Essential services have been hit. Families have been separated. People have been injured. Lives have been lost.
DEC charities and their local partners are in Ukraine and across the border in the neighbouring countries. They are working to meet the immediate needs of all people fleeing with food, water, medical assistance, protection and trauma care.
