Story
From the writer of HBO's SUCCESSION, Lucy Prebble, comes THE EFFECT.
Part psychological thriller, part chemical romance, THE EFFECT is a play that explores questions of sanity, neurology and the limits of medicine in managing our mental health.
Our production pushes the boundaries of conventional theatre, taking the audience on a journey through a clinical trail, challenging our understanding of depression and deconstructing the arguments surrounding its treatment.
The themes in THE EFFECT are complex, and all-too-familiar for so many people. Therefore, we as a team have decided to raise funds for CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), a leading movement to prevent suicide for anyone struggling or in crisis.
They offer life-saving services, provoke open conversations through national campaigns and bring people together to reject living miserably.
From advice on their site through to free, confidential chats with their helpline staff, online or on the phone, CALM is there for whoever needs them, every day. No matter what.
Every week, 125 people in the UK take their own lives.
There are 125 seats in the Bridewell theatre. It is heart-breaking to think that on one sell-out night, the number of people in that auditorium represents the number of people who will take their own life during that one week alone.
£8 is enough to fund one potentially life-saving call. So we have committed to raising £1,000, enabling CALM to answer 125 calls.
If you would like to help us reach that target, please give what you can by donating via this JustGiving page. Thank you so much in advance!
