Story
A couple of months ago I was very proud to be asked if I wanted to drive a truck as part of The Yorkshire Charity Aid Convoy to Ukraine. I jumped at the chance and asked my son Freddie (age 22) if he’d like to join me and he jumped at the chance.
The team will be driving 5 large 26 tonne trucks and 5 medium 7.5 tonne trucks across Europe entering Ukraine from Slovakia. Once the aid has been delivered a day and night spent with our Ukrainian friends the merry band of brothers and sisters head home through Hungary and across Europe. I am honoured and grateful to have been asked to join such a worthy cause and delighted that I am able to help.
So much so that I decided to buy an Ambulance. An ex NHS Ambulance no less, fully kitted out and ready to transport whoever our Ukrainian friends see fit from whichever part of Ukraine they need it to be.
I am hopeful that you will be able to help and support this endeavour as it would be wonderful if we could raise the funds from the Bowcliffe Driver’s Club to buy another.
Our convoy already has a reasonable amount of goods to transport which the Ukrainians urgently need, however, the main items required are listed below. If you have any contacts who might be able to support The Yorkshire Aid Convoy that would be wonderful:
1. Food – tinned food, pasta, rice, flour, baby formula, sugar, salt
2. Medical and first aid items, defibrillators, sterile dressings
3. Hospital equipment
4. Wheelchairs, crutches, body braces
5. Hygiene products, nappies, wipes
6. Folding beds, mattresses, bedding
7. Computers and mobile phones
8. Protective clothing
9. Batteries, matches, flashlights
10. Tents, blankets
11. Animal feed (farm and pet)
12. Seeds, fertilisers
13. Purification equipment, generators

I’m excited to be able to help the Ukrainians during these continuing difficult times and hope you feel inclined to do the same.
