Story
Christopher “Imp” Impomeni passed away on June 17, 2024 after a 6 1/2 year battle with cancer.
Christopher grew up in Rockland County, first in the New City Condos where he enjoyed creating and selling his own comic books, playing wiffle ball on the self-proclaimed Chumpy Field, and learning to ski on the many trips he took with his family. Spring Breaks brought much-anticipated family caravans down to Florida to escape the NY cold. Summertime meant trips to the beach on Long Island and the Jersey Shore (yes, Jersey!)
It was early on that his love of television began. He was proud to be one of the first in the neighborhood to get HBO. In 1983 he moved to West Nyack, where he continued his many escapades, riding bikes with his friends, always cracking jokes and making everyone laugh. He joined the track team and spent many hours in the high school TV studio honing his skills. He graduated from Clarkstown South HS in 1989.
He then attended SUNY Plattsburgh where he worked as a DJ at the radio station and humbly dubbed himself “The Almighty Imp”. He also hosted several TV shows including his own comedy show, “The Big Show”. Whether he was on the radio or TV, his incredible sense of humor was always front and center. As executive producer of the college television station for two semesters, he strove for excellence and instinctively knew if something was just the slightest bit off.
He graduated in 1993 with a degree in mass communications and began a career in television production.
After long stints at NBC, MSNBC, shorter stints at The Tony Danza Show (Imp & Tony didn’t get along), and Nickelodeon, in 2009 Imp began his dream job at the MLB Network which combined his love for tv production with his love for baseball. Christopher was a long suffering Mets fan, and went to games at Citi Field (and Shea Stadium back in the day) whenever he could. He shared his love of the Mets with his father John and his grandfather Thomas.
Chris was a late addition to the world of social media but once he did, he jumped in head first. Chris has 688 Facebook friends. And all 688 of us came to know what to expect from Imp.
He hated all things pumpkin spice and every October he would vent about it on Facebook.
He hated bad grammar and liked to correct everyone’s mistakes.
However, he wasn’t always negative. He kept everyone laughing with his endless jokes and memes. He kept us drooling over the delicious meals he lovingly prepared and photographed.
And he always was ready to invite a friend to see some live music anywhere, anytime.
And above all, he loved to post photos of all his adventures, especially the ones including his cherished daughters, Alessandra and Lucia. Nothing meant more to him than spending quality time with his beautiful girls. Their trips to Lake George, Florida, Rehoboth Beach and Maine were among his favorites. But he was just as happy getting a manicure, grabbing Starbucks or watching a movie, as long as they were together.
When Chris was diagnosed with cancer in late 2017 he took all of us along for the ride on Facebook. He left it all out on the table, and shared every detail with us, the good and the bad. He helped so many along the way with his humor and wit, no matter how hard times got.
In addition to his amazing daughters, he is survived by his parents, John and Wini, his sister Danielle, his Brother-in-Law Joe, his nephew Harrison, his niece Caroline, his partner, Quani, whom he was so happy to find love with, and his rescue dog Drago. He also had a huge cheering section in his extended family (special shout out to Aunt Eileen and Uncle John, Sue, JT, Aunt Josie, and David & Erin). His family and his life-long friends, some of whom he called brothers (Bill, Frank, Vito, and CJ) got him through the toughest of times.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Ave, NY, NY 10065

A Memorial visitation for Christopher will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at Michael J Higgins Funeral Home, 321 South Main Street, New City, NY 10956. Followed by a Memorial Service at 4:00pm.
Ali and Lucia request that instead of black, you dot the room on Sunday with Mets colors or your favorite band tee. That’s what their dad would have wanted.
