On 6th April 2025, I'll be running the London Landmark Half Marathon, but this isn't just about the race. It’s about raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer's Research UK, a cause close to my heart. I’ve had firsthand experience with dementia, and I can say without hesitation that I've known more people who are either living with dementia or who have died from the disease than those who have suffered from cancer.

Dementia doesn’t just affect the person living with it – it steals from their families too. I've watched this cruel disease slowly take away the essence of people I love, leaving their loved ones to witness it. Seeing a person transform from someone you know and love into a shell of themselves is devastating, and it’s something that stays with you forever.

RUNNING FOR A CAUSE

I’m running alongside my daughter, Ali Malloy, whose grandfather (my former father-in-law) is now in a nursing home due to the severity of his dementia. This race represents so much more than a personal goal – it’s a tribute to the loved ones we’ve lost, and a call to action for all those still battling this disease.

Together, we are aiming for a combined time of 4 hours 26 minutes. Every stride we take will be a reminder of the importance of funding research into dementia, a disease that steals memories, personalities, and futures. We hope to make a meaningful difference, no matter how small, in the fight against dementia.
