Story
I am one of eleven local businesspeople who have been put behind bars for Maggie's. I've been found guilty of excessive ‘work-related’ rounds of golf, and sent down with bail set at £1,000.
With only my phone, laptop and my powers of persuasion, I need your help to raise funds to pay bail and escape jail.
I grew up around the corner from where the Maggie’s centre now sits at ARI and remember when the construction works began. In my mind, the building represented a shift in the level of support available to those impacted by cancer in the region.
The impact the team at Maggie’s have on our community, through their expert knowledge, love and compassion is a huge comfort to so many. I am delighted to be able to support the team through being a convict in the first, hopefully fun filled, Jail or Bail event.
For many people living in the Northeast, Maggie's Aberdeen is a beacon of hope, offering a unique programme of practical and psychological support, available free of charge to people at any stage and with any type of cancer, and to their family and friends.
In the past decade Maggie’s Aberdeen have received over 80,000 visits, provided tens of thousands of hours of 1-2-1 psychological and specialist cancer support and raised £9,000,000 in financial gains for local people. They rely entirely on voluntary donations and gifts in wills to fund their work, and with instances of cancer 1 in 2 people, there is huge demand for the support they provide. Please bail me out and help Maggie’s – every £ will help.
