Story
Hi,
In August, I will be going on a cycling trip to raise money to support the work of the Thousand Year Trust.
After seeing the temperate rainforests of British Columbia last summer, I was surprised to learn that the UK has its own temperate rainforests.
However, what remains of the UK's temperate rainforest is only a fraction of its historic range - only around 1% remains.
This remaining 1% is under threat thanks to the usual suspects, namely climate change and expanding agricultural industry.
The Thousand Year Trust is a charity which seeks to not only protect this remaining 1%, but also expand it.
This cycle will begin in London and end in Dartmoor, which is home to Wistman's Wood. On the way to Wistman's Wood, I will also visit Ebbor Gorge. Wistman's Wood belongs to the remaining 1% of temperate rainforest in the UK. And Ebbor Gorge is an area where my father's family originates from.
Overall, this cycle will cover 440 kilometres and take place over the course of 5 days. For those who are interested, there are links below to my Strava account which will allow you to see the route in greater detail.

Join me to preserve and expand the precious little temperate rainforest the UK has left.
