Team Cure are taking on the 2025 TCS London Marathon, hoping to raise over £100,000 to fund cutting edge research into potential new treatments that could slow, stop or reverse Parkinson's.

Story

Hi everyone,

I'm running the 2025 London Marathon to raise money for Cure Parkinson's and I would be very grateful for your support!

Obviously, no part of me is doing this for enjoyment… I want to contribute to finding a cure for this currently incurable disease. In contrast to my marathon, Parkinson’s inflicts involuntary suffering on over 150,000 adults in the UK alone and, most meaningfully to me, our maternal grandma, Anne, was one of these poor sufferers until she died in 2005 at the age of 69.

I was only 9 years old, so the sad reality is that my last memories of her are when she was wheelchair-bound, struggling with tremors, shakes, slowness of movement, and speech difficulties. Even as a child, it was obvious how deeply affected she was by the disease and how, for the last 8 years of her life, it had stolen her independence and dignity.

More recently, our paternal cousin, James, has also been diagnosed with Parkinson's.

The disease is truly horrible for the sufferer and it extends to everyone around them so I'm determined to do my part in helping find a cure.

Hopefully, this cause will do our Grandma proud, raise awareness, and, most importantly, go some way in helping others like our cousin avoid the same fate. It’s tough work, but every blister, ache, and moment of self-doubt is worth it if it means we can help find a cure!

Cure Parkinson’s really is an incredible charity, and your donation, no matter how big or small, will help fund groundbreaking research, support people living with Parkinson's, and hopefully, one day, eradicate this devastating disease.

Thank you so much for your support.

With love

Ted
