Story

My name is Teddy Shaw-Kew, I attend Queen Elizabeth High School in Hexham and I am 14 years old. Since I was very little, I have helped my Mum and her friend with a yearly Christmas foodbank collection that they organise in the Tyne Valley, and this experience has made me want to do more to help my community and those less fortunate than me. As part of my Duke of Edinburgh award, I have spent three months volunteering at The West Northumberland Foodbank, and I have really valued getting to learn about the amazing work undertaken there by their staff and volunteers. Having seen first hand how great the demand is for basic food supplies for so many families in our area, I have decided to try and raise money by challenging myself to complete a triathlon that will see me swim half a kilometre, bike 20 kilometres and run 5 kilometres. My run will take me along the riverside at Hexham to end at the foodbank, and hopefully by the time I get there I will be able to tell the staff that I have reached my target of £200! If you are able to sponsor me, even a couple of quid, I would be incredibly grateful! Thank you very much. TSK
