Story

My Uncle's Story:

Last fall/winter was a complicated one for my family. My uncle had metastatic duodenal adenocarcinoma, and it had spread to the brain. We all flew to London to take care of him, a man known for his kindness and joy. His motto was to always look for opportunities to make someone smile. When he got sick, I promised myself that if he got better, I would find a way to help other cancer patients. Sadly, my uncle passed away last January, after showing us how to fight cancer with unparalleled strength and optimism. He never lost his smile, his faith, his generosity. His fight was supported Diego and Lola from the CRIS Foundation, who did everything humanly and scientifically possible to keep Rafa with us for 2 years beyond his original life expectancy. He leaves behind a loving wife, Silvia, and four children, Paula, Rafa, Silvia, and Nicolas. His absence is deeply felt by those who knew him. I myself am very grateful for the time I got to spend with him and the lessons he taught me, which is why I want to pay my small tribute to my uncle here and ask you to never lose hope and that if you want to help, you can always do so through the CRIS Cancer Foundation.
