We provide the very best palliative care to help both patients and their families

Story

My Husband Richard Davies has just been admitted to Cynthia Spencer Hospice.

After a stage 4 terminal bowel cancer diagnosis in April 2022, Richard aka Bowelbro set about sharing his knowledge and journey of what he had experienced. Helping and inspiring 100’s of people impacted by the disease and sharing a little bit about his life and how he was coping.

Richard certainly explored all options and faced down the harshest chemo regime possible. Unfortunately the disease spread and by June 2023 he was no longer responding to treatment.

Sadly on the 1st of September Richard was given the news that he had a bowel obstruction that could not be rectified. As such he was soon admitted to Cynthia Spencer hospice where they are taking the best care of him. (They provide a holistic and individualised approach in a safe and caring environment, to give exceptional specialist palliative care to patients and families with life limiting illnesses - supporting them to live their lives, with dignity, kindness and compassion).

We are fortunate to have been able to access this facility for Richard when we are about to face the hardest part of this journey to let him go.

While I sit here I know how much Richard is loved and cared for by the incredible support he has from friends, family, the cancer community and his Bowelbro page. Therefore, I would like for us all to join forces and celebrate Richard’s life, his kindness of always doing for others and come together to celebrate his life while giving something back to this incredible charity. If you have been inspired or touched by Richard’s journey in some way we would love for you to be part of a cycle team. Richard’s father in law will be co-ordinating a team bowelbro gathering at the start of the cycle as part of the cycle4cynthia event on Sunday 17st September 9am.
