Story
Team Bill and Team Ruby are joining together! Inspired by their strength and determination to fight Mito we are undertaking our biggest challenge yet!
On July 13, 2024, we will be participating in the Yr Wyddfa / Snowdon 24 hour Ultra Trail, a personal challenge that will push us to our limits. Our goal is to scale Mt Snowdon 10 times within a 24-hour period, equivalent to ascending Mt Everest!
By taking on this specifically challenging event, we hope to grab the attention of our followers and raise £5,000 towards our target of £100,000 by the end of 5 years fund raising in 2025 (Team Bill). Once again The Lily Foundation is the charity we are fundraising for. They provide vital support to families like ours affected by mitochondrial disease. Every other day in the UK, a baby is born who may develop a serious mitochondrial disease.
Mitochondrial disease, or ‘mito’, is a rare genetic disorder that can affect people in very different ways. Symptoms can start at any age and can involve any organ in the body. There is currently no cure for mito, and in some cases, it can be life-limiting. However, treatments to manage symptoms are available and there is active research taking place globally to find a cure. Thanks to research, we are learning more daily about mito.
Even if you can't donate, please take a moment to visit the Lily website (https://www.thelilyfoundation.org.uk) and learn more about mitochondrial disease and the incredible work done by this charity.
Join us in making a difference for families like ours. Together, we can bring hope and support to those affected by mitochondrial disease.
