Story
At 5pm pm, Saturday 17th June, “Team 3M” will be taking their first steps onto the slopes of Ben Nevis as we start the 24 Hour National Three Peaks Challenge. Once Ben Nevis has been completed, the team and support crew will drive through the night down to the Lake District where we will tackle Scafel Pike and from there, its off to Yr Wyddfa (aka Snowdon) for the final leg of the challenge! Oh, and just for good measure, part of the team will be doing the 48hr 5 Peaks challenge, so by the time they reach us at the foot of Ben Nevis, they will have already climbed the highest peaks in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland!! A few of the team completed the National Three Peaks challenge in 2011 and our efforts this time round will be for two main reasons. Sadly, in March 2018, Alan McArthur, a much-loved friend and colleague of so many at 3M, felt unable to continue with life and unfortunately didn’t find the help he needed.
Alan, who took part in the original event in 2011 (and then departed Ben Nevis via a Sea King Helicopter…but that’s a story for another day!) was a wonderful man and we would like to further honour his memory by raising funds for the charity Mind UK. Additional information about Alan can be found here: Alan McArthur (mind.org.uk). Bowel Cancer UK, another charity close to the hearts of a number of us at 3M, is the second charity that we will be supporting, so it would be a massive boost for us all if you could help us smash our £3064 target…which will make it £1 for every meter climbed! If anyone would like to support in any other way (as a driver or member of the support team) we would also love to hear from you!?!
