Story

Sadly last month we had to say goodbye to my grandfather, Trevor Lewis.
Over the years, Trevor has often been referred to as “The Legend”; a man full of wonderful stories, with a charismatic heart and a smile which brightened every room. A true gentleman.
Trevor unfortunately was diagnosed with terminal oesophageal cancer and dementia last year. During his last days, my grandfather was taken care of by the amazing team at Marie Curie in the comfort of his own home. I will never forget the compassion and care all the staff gave to my grandfather in ensuring he was comfortable as possible, as well as providing the most wonderful support for his amazing wife Vivienne and their family and friends.
To raise funds and to say thank you to all the staff involved, myself with family and friends will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge on Saturday 11th May 2024. The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres), Whernside (736 metres) and Ingleborough (723 metres). We aim to complete the 24 mile trek in under 12 hours.
Funds will be raised for Marie Curie - a charity that provides expert hospice care wherever it's needed – either in a hospice or within the comfort of an own home.
In my grandfather’s memory, we are tying up our hiking boots to help raise public awareness and support for others affected by terminal illnesses who are receiving palliative care. Furthermore, any money raised will allow Marie Curie to continue their vital work.
Your support and any donations, however big or small, are gratefully received.
