Story
In the UK and Ireland, around five children are diagnosed with cancer each week. That's around 1820 each year.
A team of over 30 staff from Birmingham Children's Hospital (BCH) are doing circuits everyday throughout September. They will include crunches, calf-raises and curls (biceps). Our whole team either works to care for children with cancer, or supports those who do. We are raising money for CCLG and BCH. Team members are below!
On average, 82% (over 8 in 10) of all children survive their cancer for five years or more. For some types of children's cancer, the cure rate is much higher. However, for some types of childhood cancer, cure rates are much lower and less progress has been made. Further research is urgently needed.
Cancer remains the number 1 cause of death by disease for children. Sadly, around 230 children die from cancer each year.
Childrens Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) is a leading national charity and expert voice for all childhood cancers.
Each week in the UK and Ireland, more than 30 children are diagnosed with cancer. Our network of dedicated professional members work together in treatment, care and research to help shape a future where all children with cancer survive and live happy, healthy and independent lives.
