'Team Lakes' climb 30,000 metres of ascent in a weekend to raise funds for British Exploring Society · 30 September 2023

British Exploring Society Development Board members and friends are taking on three unique challenges to raise funds to help more young people Find their Fire.

Story

British Exploring Society does wonderful things for an increasing number of young, disadvantaged people, giving exceptional and life-changing learning experiences through a range of tough and incredible expeditions. This year they are planning trips to the Yukon, Kyrgyzstan, Iceland and Scotland.

To help their mission, in September a team of ten of us are attempting to climb 30,000 metres of ascent (3,000 metres per person) in a single weekend in the Lake District. We want to raise awareness and funds for this amazing organisation. Two other teams are attempting simultaneous 30k challenges, one in Scotland and one in London.

Team Lakes consists of Jon Slade, Chris Thompson, Tim Passingham, Andy Gibson, Mark Ward, Charlie Yorke, Dave Liddle, Ed Cutts, Toby Barran and Rob Booth.

Friends of Team Lakes are Nick Ackerman, Kate Hancock, Jon Wilton, Fiona Wallace, John Wallace, Karl Salter, Serena Catapano, Honor Wilson-Fletcher, Sue Redshaw, David Wells, Richard Brown, Tobi Areoye, Stuart Curzon and Leigh Curzon.
