Team Hitchell's 100-Mile South Downs Way Challenge!

Team Hitchell's 100-Mile South Downs Way Challenge! · 25 June 2025
From the 25th of June, Richard Hitchell, James Hitchell, and Louisa Saunders (our practice manager) will be taking on the full 100-mile South Downs Way — cycling from Winchester to Eastbourne — to raise money for the Openwork Foundation, a charity we’ve proudly supported for many years.
The Openwork Foundation does fantastic work helping vulnerable children and families, including awarding grants to two particular charities that we have nominated (totalling over £45,000) - Chestnut Tree House Children’s Hospice and AlexTLC. Every donation makes a real difference to the lives of those who need it most.
This challenge is no small feat — the South Downs Way is 100 miles of historic, hilly, and almost entirely off-road terrain. While Richard is no stranger to a bike, James is definitely not a natural cyclist — so completing this route will be a big undertaking for him (and probably his legs...).
We’re covering the costs of the trip ourselves, so every penny raised will go directly to the Openwork Foundation. Your support — whether through a donation or simply cheering us on — will mean the world to us and to the charities that benefit.
Thank you so much for your generosity!
