Story
On an ordinary day, most of us at The Brain Tumour Charity are working hard to fund pioneering medical research, provide care and support for those affected, and educate the public on the early signs and symptoms of the disease.
But this June, for the first time ever, 7 of us will compete in the Dell Management Challenge 2-day Adventure Race through Wales' Brecon Beacons mountain range.
I'm Annie, the Team Captain. I am 5'1", always sleepy, and I have a very particular lack of skills.
Nevertheless, I will be leading this team through the Welsh mountains for a series of gruelling mental and physical challenges. We may laugh. We may cry. Rude language may be deployed. There is a strong possibility of stopping for Welsh cakes.
Our intrepid team consists of David, Evie, Matt, Sheree, Joss, Victoria and myself. Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of people under 40 and have a colossal impact on quality of life. Each of us is passionate about improving the lives of people affected by a diagnosis. That's why we will be mountain-biking, trail-running, canoeing, hiking, and even wielding bows and arrows to raise funds for Northern Joe's Fund, a Supporter Group of The Brain Tumour Charity.
Joe was just 20 when he tragically passed away from a brain tumour and his Fund was set up in his memory. It is thanks to his father, Richard, that all funds raised by the Dell Management Challenge 2023 will be donated to The Brain Tumour Charity.
Your donations are so appreciated and will really make a difference.
With many thanks from Team Brain Tumour Charity! A cure can't wait.
