*********************************************************

In 2004 there were but a handful of Sikh families living in largely homogenous Surrey Heath. Hearing the call to serve their Guru Ji, these families decided to organise monthly Sukhmani Sahib Ji Paath, Kirtan, followed by Guru Ka Langar at the homes of individual sangat members. Soon after, the Camberley Sikh Association was formed.

As the word of these monthly Paaths spread, this handful of Sikh were joined by a few more. Soon the sangat was too big to be hosted on homes and a local community hall was hired.

The sangat continued to grow and grow and today monthly Sansungs regukrly attract 200 worshippers, and double that for seminal key dates such as Vaisakhi.

Census data shows the number of Sikh households in Surrey Heath alone number 300-350 and in the surrounding area, tht number is much, much larger - none of whom have a Gurdwara close by.

So the time is now right to create a permanent Gurdwara in the the Surrey area for the growing Sikh sangat and the whole community.
