Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the London Marathon for Dementia UK because it is a cause close to my heart. We lost my Mum nearly 3 years ago finally to lung cancer, but we started losing her vibrant and vivacious personality a long time before due to her vascular dementia. She lived a very full and active life in Vienna for 40+years and the day we had to bring her back to the UK to care for her properly was one of the most traumatic things I have had to do. Then watching her slowly become a shell of herself was very distressing. Caring for someone with dementia is very challenging for the whole family. Dementia UK provide much needed free specialist nursing support to the families caring for a loved one with dementia, which is one of the biggest health challenges we have; every 3 minutes someone in the UK develops dementia.
Please sponsor me for this very important and much needed service. Any amount that you can spare is much appreciated.
Mum, we miss you terribly but I know you are now resting in peace xx
