Story
As many of you will know, I lost my beautiful little sis Shez (PC 20466 Sherry Owen) last year after a short but brave battle with Cancer.Ā Ā She was just 45 years old.Ā We used to say that with cancer odds of 1 in 3 (as it was - scarily itās now more like 1 in 2) it would get one of usĀ 3 sisters eventually, never ever really believing it would.Ā Shez fought the cancer like a Trojan and pushed herself everyday hoping in vain she could outrun it - sadly as we know that could never be, and I remember feeling like we had all failed her when she chose to go the local Rowans hospice for her final days. I had envisioned a sad , drab and lonely place , short on home comforts but in reality it was the one huge ray of sunshine in all her treatment. The staff were amazingly kind and thoughtful and cared for Shez like she deserved to be cared for, even staying with her all night to gently rub her back when she was being continually unwell.Ā Ā That level of care and compassion in such comfortable surroundings meant so much to Shez, and to us.Ā As a family we want to honour Shez and the nursing staff at The Rowans by running the Great South RunĀ this year - it was something Shez did several times as the fitter sister , with me always promising to join her the following year . Well that time has now comeĀ Ā - Iāve pulled onĀ Ā my trainers and dusted off my pink tu-tu and for the last few monthsĀ Ā have huffed and puffed my way up and down the prom in preparation - now itās my time to make her proudĀ š I would really appreciate it if you could help me to support this amazing local charityĀ knowing that at ANY point - ANY one of us could need it , just like ShezĀ Ā ā¤ļøĀ Please share and Thankyou for taking the time to read this. Love and best wishes to you and yours , TaraĀ xxx
