Tanwen's fundraiser for UK Sepsis Trust

London Marathon 2025 · 27 April 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
As our new year begins, I think I can safely say that 2025 will be a crazy one with some epic challenges. Back in Autum last year I found out I had a ballot place to run the TCS London Marathon 2025! I am so excited and cannot wait to run in one of the most famous races in the world.
As I have the opportunity to do so, I am again raising money for a charity that is so, so, so important to me: The UK Sepsis Trust. Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that happens when the body’s response to an infection injures its tissues and organs, and the immune system goes into overdrive. In the UK, 245,000 people are affected by this disease every year, and 1 person will lose their lives to Sepsis every 5 hours.
The summer of 2025 will mark 13 years since I survived Sepsis. My experience with Sepsis has massively impacted my life, from the initial month-long stay in the hospital, multiple operations, scans and tests to the prolonged impact it has on me and the impact it has on your family. I often have those 'pinch me moments' when I see where I am now as a 3rd-year medical student and a soon-to-be marathon runner! And I am so grateful for all of the support I have had to be able to take on this challenge
So, If you can, please donate to this amazing charity - the work they do is phenomenal! I am also training for this marathon with a wonderful group of friends in Birmingham - a couple of which are also raising money:
