Story
Tania and Shannon joined WOMAC in 2022. Women On the Move Against Cancer (WOMAC) is administered by the Essex Community Foundation.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page and for your kind donation. We are very grateful for your support. WOMAC is made up of volunteers from the automotive industry who donate money every year to cancer charities. For more details please visit www.womac.co.uk.
Tania and Shannon will each give up something we love. Shannon is renowned for her constant chatter and Tania is well known for her love of gin and wine. So onto our plan:
Shannon will be maintaining a sponsored silence between the hours of 12am and 2pm daily for the entire two weeks and Tania will be giving up alcohol for the entire two weeks!
Additionally between 2pm and 3pm each day (bar when attending events) Tania and Shannon will be learning British sign language together to do something constructive.
So if you read the VSCC news sheet and appreciate Shannon's editorial work (or are a friend of hers who is just grateful for some peace and quiet) or if you have chatted with Tania over a drink somewhere, please consider donating.
This year, WOMAC has chosen to support two charities in 2023/4 – OPA and Cure Leukaemia.
The OPA has led the fight against oesophageal and gastric cancers for over 30 years. They support patients, families and carers, and raise awareness of these cancers and their prevention. OPA is there to help at every stage. www.opa.org.uk
Cure Leukaemia helps to fund the national Trials Acceleration Programme (TAP). With 15 specialist research nurses in 15 cities, this network enables pioneering blood cancer clinical trials to connect patients with potentially life-saving treatments not currently available through standard care. www.cureleukaemia.co.uk
