Our beautiful daughter Meila was born at 37 weeks +3 days. Sadly, two hours after she was born she took her last breath.

We were able to spend precious time with our daughter due to the the hospital having an Abi Cot. This time provided us with the opportunity to make memories and hold our baby girl in our arms.

As Meila's mummies we want to raise money for another Abi Cot to be made in her name to support other families that may sadly experience the loss of a baby. We know our Meila would have had the biggest and kindest heart and therefore we know she will be proud to have an Abi Cot in her name, helping other families and babies.

We need to raise at least £2800 for an Abi Cot to be built. However, if we can raise more than this amount we know it will go towards supporting Abigail's Footsteps bereavement training programme for health care professionals and their specialist baby loss counselling programme, which we have also benefitted from.

Sadly, other families will experience the heartbreak of losing a baby and if in Meila's name we can make this just a little bit easier, then we know she will be looking down with a smile on her face.

The Abi Cooling Cot is a refrigerated unit that allows families to spend more time with their deceased baby than would otherwise be possible. The cooling cot helps parents to bond with their baby and aids the grieving process. The cooling cot is supplied by Abigail's Footsteps in partnership with The Bond Group . We have delivered cots to over 100 hospitals and hospices in the UK and Ireland so far. It is our mission to encourage all bereavement suites in hospitals to have at least two cooling cots.
